The Hillhead Jazz Band
The HJBs have been not playing much jazz for many years now.
They are based at Hillhead High School in the west end of Glasgow, and play a varied Set List of Soul, Rock, Jazz, pop etc.
Somewhat strangely there seems to have been a constant supply of talented musicians and singers to take over after band members move on.
In June 2014, The HJBs performed at the opening ceremony for the newly refurbished Kelvingrove Bandstand.

They have performed on the main stage as part of the West End Festival at Gibson Street Gala, at Glasgow Central station for Prince Charles “Start” campaign, and appeared briefly on the BBC news as part of the coverage for this event.
Many former band members have gone on to study music or continue to play and sing in bands.

The Glasgow Schools Big Band
I took over as the leader of GSBB in the Summer of 2009.They are a collection of musicians gathered from schools across Glasgow City and rehearse weekly in Merchant City.
Recently, they have appeared in concerts at the City Halls, The Fruitmarket, and performed at the inauguration of Creative Scotland at The Briggait.
They consequently appeared on BBC news covering the event.
